Chichibu Intergalactic Edition 6 x 70cl

Chichibu's Intergalactic Edition series previously featured a "Robot" theme (#1 and #2), an "Anime" theme (#3 and #4), and now the 2021 editions feature an "Spaceman" theme with illustration by graphic designer G -on Kalopsia.

The Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, Japan opened in 2008 and was the first new distillery in the country since Suntory opened Hakushu back in 1973. Chichibu was the brainchild of Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of the legendary Hanyu distillery. Ichiro's Malt brand was launched in 2005 and became famous for bottling the last of the Hanyu casks, especially the popular Card series. The first Chichibu releases appeared under it in 2011.

Chichibu 2012 Single ex-Peated Bourbon Cask # 2112 63,5% 70cl / Intergalactic Edition 1 - distilled in 2012. One of 182 bottles.

Aroma: Very pronounced rich notes of strength. Full aromas of coffee, bitter caramel and blackberry, with distinct notes of licorice and anise. If you let it breathe, it gives off a sweet aroma of wine and oil.

Taste: The flavor is the perfect combination of dark, velvety Belgian stout and classic whiskey flavor. The second edition is filled with notes of yeast, lemon, melon, camphor, oak and chocolate with a licorice and camphor fruity finish. Overall quite sweet, with obvious tannins in the aftertaste.

Aroma: Quite a strong aroma, worthy of a classic bourbon. Clear notes of burnt wood and light ash, yeast, cocoa and caramel. If you let it breathe, it emits a sweet aroma of yellow and white fruit syrup.

Taste: While the peat is not noticeable on the nose, it is very noticeable in the mouth. The first edition of Chichibu Intergalactic Series tastes of wood, coconut, black pepper and cold ash. The aftertaste is graphite with light citrus notes.

Aroma: Warm and intense, with notes of dark, burnt wood, nuts and charcoal. If you let it breathe, it reveals sweet notes of dried fruits, marmalade and tropical fruits.

Taste: Unique, deep and aromatic. Pronounced peat flavor with notes of black pepper, coconut and wood. The finish is strong with light citrus notes.

Chichibu 2012 Single Bourbon Cask № 2334 55% 70cl / Intergalactic Edition 4 - distilled in 2012. One of 215 bottles.

Aroma: Intense and heavy. Full of cocoa, wood and burning aromas, accompanied by citrus notes and the sweetness of dried fruits. Very deep and aromatic.

Taste: Rich and deep. Clear notes of chocolate, marmalade and citrus. Woody, leathery and husky finish.

Chichibu 2015 Single Bourbon Cask #4316 62,3% 70cl / Intergalactic Edition 5 - this whiskey was distilled in 2015. One of 210 bottles.

Aroma: Complex and intense, with notes of sandalwood and spice. If you let it breathe, it reveals sweet notes of dried fruits, marmalade and citrus.

Taste: Unique, deep and aromatic. The first fill of the bourbon barrel produces a sweet and creamy ice cream soda flavor that perfectly complements Chichibu's famous spiciness.

Chichibu 2015 Single Bourbon Cask #5486 63,6% 70cl / Intergalactic Edition 6 - This whiskey was distilled in 2015. One of 203 bottles.

Aroma: Warm and complex. The sixth edition of the Chichibu Intergalactic series has a creamy scent reminiscent of custard or sponge cake. The soft sweetness pairs well with the citrusy notes of tropical fruits.

Taste: Unique, deep and aromatic. Pronounced peat flavor with notes of black pepper, coconut and wood. The finish is strong with light citrus notes.
