The Macallan Color Collection reflects a commitment to natural colour, embracing the full spectrum of natural hues achieved through years of maturation in exceptional sherry oak casks from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
The colour deepens with each expression of age in the Color Collection, from the pale oak of the 12 Years Old to the polished chestnut of the 30 Years Old. The casks have been carefully selected to celebrate the spectrum of natural colour.
The whisky gains its vibrant colours from contact with oak wood, while the maturation in sherry contributes to its signature quality, flavour and depth. This connection with wood and sherry casks is expressed in the liquid, age profile, packaging and in the collaboration with visionary graphic designer and artist David Carson.
The Macallan Colour Collection draws inspiration from the captivating Jerez de la Frontera region of Spain, where the cask story begins. This otherworldly land bordering the vast Atlantic Ocean is a unique land of hot summers, historic vineyards and exquisite wines.
It is here that exceptional oak casks are matured with the finest sherry, and it is these sherry-aged oak casks that contribute most to the quality, flavours and distinctive aromas that underlie the single malt whisky, and give it its unique natural colour.
In designing the Colour Collection, David Carson has captured the flavour notes of each exquisite expression, and captured the light landscapes and warm, natural tones of Jerez de la Frontera.
The Macallan’s dedication to craftsmanship extends beyond the whisky itself. The exquisite presentation boxes for the 12, 15 and 18 Year Old expressions are made from sustainable materials and are 100% recyclable. For the 21 and 30 Year Old expressions, carefully crafted wooden boxes are made from oak harvested from sustainable forests. These boxes do double duty: they protect the whisky and are reusable, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to longevity and environmental awareness.
